Medication Administration
Oral medications including via feeding tube, otic and ophthalmic medications, subcutaneous (SQ) injections such as fluid therapy and insulin, intramuscular (IM) injections and transdermal medications.
Performed only under the instruction of the prescribing DVM.

Sample Collection and Lab Tests
Biological sample collection including blood, urine and stool can be obtained and transported to the veterinary hospital for testing.
Certain in-home tests are also available depending on your regular veterinarian’s recommendations.
Example: in-home blood glucose curves, low dose dexamethasone suppression test, ACTH stimulation test, kidney and liver monitoring
Sample collection and testing will be performed only under the order of the regular DVM.

Wound Care and Bandage Changes
Ideal for patients who require frequent bandage changes for the treatment of wounds or fractures.
Performed only under the instruction of the prescribing DVM

Heart Rate and Blood Pressure Monitoring
For patients being treated for heart disease or hypertension. Results will be sent to the patient’s DVM to allow for monitoring of current therapy.
Performed only under the instruction of the prescribing DVM.

Physical Rehabilitation
Beneficial to patients recovering from orthopedic injuries and/or surgery and patients experiencing conditions such as neurological disease and osteoarthritis.
Performed only under the instruction of the prescribing DVM. -

Patient Transport
For pet owners who are unable or need assistance with transporting their pet to the veterinary hospital. Ideal for elderly or disabled pet owners.

Anal Gland Expression
Routine anal gland expression performed for general grooming purposes only. If medical issues are noted during expression, RVT will recommend seeking medical attention.
Owner must be able to physically restrain pet for procedure under the instruction of the RVT.

Nail Trimming
Routine nail trims performed for general grooming purposes only. If medical issues are noted during nail trim, RVT will recommend seeking medical attention.
Owner must be able to physically restrain pet for procedure under the instruction of the RVT.

Ear Cleaning and Medication Administration
Performed as a measure to prevent ear infections or for the treatment of current infections.
Medication is administered only under the instruction of the prescribing DVM.

My Relationship With Your Veterinarian
Working in harmony with your primary veterinary care team is of utmost importance. Therefore, all treatments will be confirmed and permission from the veterinarian will be obtained prior to beginning services. I will be communicating with your veterinary office regularly to ensure I have the most up to date information on your pet’s healthcare plan. Treatments will only be performed as ordered by the animal’s current veterinarian. Please be aware that veterinary offices by require verbal or written permission from you in order to release your pet’s medical history.
As a Registered Veterinary Technician I cannot diagnose, prognose or prescribe any medical treatments.
I cannot offer physical examinations, vaccinations or euthanasia services.
I cannot attest to the health status of a patient.
